This week the wild roses are in bloom and they are a beautiful addition to the colors of spring we see around town. The bushes in our yard were starts from two different varieties many years ago and they have grown together creating a very pretty mix of red and yellow blooms.

Personally, I’m partial to the red blooms:

Red RosesAs well as brightening up the yard, these flowers are abuzz with bees whose interest in them is for the pollen they can harvest. While I intended to make some pictures of the blooms, I stuck around watching the bees do their work and made even more pictures of bees and blooms.

Here is my favorite bees and bloom shot:

Bees KneesWith several blooms yet to open I expect the beauty – and the pollen harvest – will continue well into next week. And I hope to be out there with the camera to make more pictures.
