December snow has finally arrived to the valley floor, and with it came the cold temperatures that will allow it to stay. Soon inversions will rule, in between storms that are strong enough to break through and increase the accumulation.

I’ve been selfishly enjoying the warmer temperatures of early December 2014, dreading the day when winter would really arrive. That weather pattern doesn’t fill reservoirs, though.

It will take some time before I acclimate to the cold that will linger over the coming months. The trade-off will be beautiful sunsets such as this shot made when the inversion had cleared after a storm:
