I slipped away for sunset and had just enough time to reach the reservoir where I watched it happen over the water from the east bank. While I was at the computer straightening and cropping this shot the words to Taps came to mind.

This is one version of the lyrics to the bugle call, written by Horace Lorenzo Trim:

Day is done, gone the sun

From the lakes, from the hills, from the sky
All is well, safely rest
God is nigh.

Fading light dims the sight
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright
From afar, drawing near
Falls the night.

Thanks and praise for our days
Neath the sun, neath the stars, neath the sky
As we go, this we know

God is nigh.

From the LakeYes, God is nigh.

Sometimes I think I haven’t done justice to the beauty of the scene, but it’s always worth trying.
