Cache Valley residents who happened to be out of doors at sunset witnessed a spectacular battle in the evening sky.

I really wasn’t expecting much to come of the sunset so I stuck close to home, eyeing the sky from a window occasionally. Finally, rays of color began to appear in the western sky but the clouds fought back with an equally beautiful muted blue. Just when I thought it was over, the clouds retreated against the intensity of the sunset and an explosion of color formed above what is becoming my most photographed landmark:

FervorA short time later the clouds regrouped and the colors deepened to a brilliant orange followed by a fiery red and then the battle was over. But not the war, because I’m sure the sun will fight on the next time we have a cloudy evening.
