HDR is a great option for shooting at sunrise and sunset.
Combining a range of exposures in a way that allow both shadows and highlights to be visible makes a golden hour image even more stunning.
I’m definitely biased, but this sunset scene of a farm property begged for this finishing technique. I love the colors of the rain soaked barley below the red and blue sky and both elements are clearly seen. The slight movement of the clouds due to multiple exposures over a short time results in a dreamy, soft focus effect.
After the blessing of today’s rain the clearing sky capped off the day beautifully:
